How to Contact the NTCRU

The NT Concession and Recognition Unit (NTCRU) manages membership for both the NT Concession Scheme and the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme. Here are the contact channels:

  • Phone: 1800 777 704 (free call)
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Post: GPO Box 3970, Darwin NT 0800
  • In person: Any Territory Service Centre across the NT

Phone lines are the quickest way to check your membership status or ask about a missing concession credit. Email works best when you need to attach documents — scanned ID, rate notices, or the Vendor Creation Form.

Submitting an NTCS Application

You can lodge your application online through the NT Government portal, by emailing signed documents, by post, or in person at a service centre. Whichever channel you choose, you need the same documents:

  • Completed NTCS Membership Application Form
  • 100 points of identity and NT address proof
  • Copy of your Centrelink or DVA concession card
  • If using it as a Category B address document, a council rates notice (25 points)

After membership is confirmed, register your property by submitting its current council rates notice. If you have already paid your rates in full and want a direct reimbursement, also include proof of payment and a completed Vendor Creation Form with your bank details.

Processing Times

The NTCRU's published processing standard is 20 working days for a complete application — roughly four weeks. Incomplete applications may take longer. Check that your identification reaches 100 points and include evidence of a current qualifying payment.

When Your Council Gets Involved

The NTCRU handles membership approval and the initial reimbursement. Once approved, the unit notifies your local council directly, and future rate notices arrive with the concession already deducted. You do not need to separately apply to your council for the NTCS concession — but you do need to contact them separately if you want to apply for additional local hardship relief.

Keeping Track of Everything

Between the NTCRU application, the council notification, and the annual renewal, there are several moving parts. Our NT Pensioner Rates Concessions guide consolidates the entire process into a single workflow with tracking checklists, so nothing falls through the cracks.
